Call Description

  • The Joint Silk Road Science Fund (SRSF) is a funding framework provided jointly by the Iran National Science Foundation (INSF) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) since 2016. In its 9th round, SRSF funds 6 research projects and 3 workshops.
  • Each research project must have a primary investigator (PI) in Iran and a PI in China. A project can last from 1-3 years.
  • Each workshop must have a primary investigator (PI) in Iran and a PI in China. A workshop can last up to 4 days and can be held in Iran or China.

Applicant Eligibility

  • An Iranian Applicant must be a full-time faculty member at an Iranian university or research institute.
  • An Iranian Applicant must be a full-time faculty member at a university or research institute affiliated with CAS. The list of universities and research institutes affiliated with CAS may be found in this link: https://english.cas.cn/institutes/
  • Iranian Applicants must submit their proposals, jointly prepared with their Chinese counterparts, at the INSF Research Management System. Submitting proposals is only possible through the aforementioned system.
  • In addition to the online application form in the INSF Research Management System, a proposal form in English signed by the Chinese PI and sealed by the Chinese PI’s place of work must be submitted by the Iranian applicant.

  • Call Results Announcement: Mid-October 2024
  • Initiation of Approved Projects: January 2025

Funding Amount

  • For research projects, Iranian researchers will receive a Maximum of 30.000.000.000 IRR for the duration of 3 years.
  • For research workshops, Iranian researchers will receive a Maximum of 5.000.000.000 IRR.
