Second Joint Call by the Iran National Science Foundation (INSF) and the Russian Science Foundation (RSF)

Iran National Science Foundation (INSF) and the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) announced their second joint call for proposals. The two organisations aim to fund up to 10 joint research projects in the following research areas:
- Life Sciences (including but not limited to biology, biotechnology, and microbiology—medical research is not included)
- Material Sciences (including but not limited to smart materials, biomaterials, superconductors, batteries, and rare minerals)
- Health and Medical Research
Eligibility Criteria (For Iranian Applicants Only)
Full-time faculty members from Iranian universities and educational/research institutions are eligible to participate. Iranian researchers must:
- Collaborate with their Russian partners to complete the joint English proposal form and commitment letter.
- Submit the proposal via the INSF Research Management System (rtms.insf.org).
- Fill out an online form and upload supporting documents, including:
- An up-to-date CV
- A faculty appointment letter

- Commitment letter form (Jointly completed by Iranian and Russian researchers, signed by the university or research institute where the project is to be implemented, and submitted to both INSF and RSF)
Call Dates
- Call announcement: 1 April 2025
- Submission deadline: 20 June 2025
- Winners announcement: by 25 December 2025
- Start of project/funding: 1 January 2026
- End of projects: 31 December 2028
Funding Details
The maximum funding support for each joint project for the Iranian side is up to 30 billion Rials for a maximum duration of three years.
