INSF - NSFC Announce 4th Joint Call for Proposals

Call Description

Iran National Science Foundation (INSF) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) announced their fourth joint call for proposals. The two organisations aim to fund a maximum of 10 joint research projects and 6 joint research workshops in the following research areas. It is the first time that the two organisations have included joint workshops within the scope of their joint funding with the goals of capacity building, developing collaboration networks, sharing research results, and promotion of science.

Priority Areas

Priority Areas for Joint Projects:

1. Energy-related areas: Renewable energy, high-efficiency utilization of conventional energy, energy storage technologies
2. Regenerative Medicine (Bioengineering or Biomaterial relevant to regenerative medicine)
3. Environment: Water and solid waste treatment.

Priority Areas for Joint Workshops:

1. Climate Change
2. Artificial Intelligence and Big Data in Engineering and Industries
3. Advanced Materials and Manufacturing

Applicant Eligibility

• An Iranian applicant must be a full-time faculty member at an Iranian university or research institute.
• Iranian applicants must submit their proposals, jointly prepared with their Chinese counterparts, at the INSF Research Management System. Submitting proposals is only possible through the aforementioned system.
• In addition to the online application form in the INSF Research Management System, a proposal form in English in Microsoft Word must be submitted by the Iranian applicant.

Timeline

• Call Announcement: February 10, 2024
• Deadline for Submitting Proposals: April 24, 2024
• Call Results Announcement: October 2024
• Initiation of Approved Projects: January 2024
