NSFC-INSF Announce their First Joint Call
Following the cooperation agreement signed by Iran National Science Foundation (INSF) and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the two sides are going to jointly fund cooperative research projects in 2022 to support scientists from the two countries to carry out substantive cooperation and exchanges.
According to this call, INSF and NSFC will jointly support a maximum of 15 joint research projects in the following scientific fields:
- Life Sciences,
- Material Sciences, and
- Mathematics
Researchers from both sides can submit their proposals from May 10th, 2021 to July 9th, 2021.
Researchers based in Iran can register their joint research proposals in Iran National Science Foundation Research Management System and researchers based in China can submit their proposals according to the regulations announced by NSFC.

Both parties shall submit their proposals to their due funding agencies under this call, i.e. INSF or NSFC. Proposals submitted by only one of the two parties will not enter the review process.
Those research projects that are feasible to be conducted solely in Iran, will not be supported under this call. Researchers have to justify the need for and added value of their international cooperation.
Iran-based principal investigator (PI) must be a faculty member in one of the universities or research institutes in Iran and the China-based PI must be a faculty member in one of the universities or research institutes in China.
Matchmaking between Iranian and Chinese PIs is not done by INSF or NSFC.
Those Iranian researchers who have an ongoing international research project funded by INSF, cannot submit proposals under this call.
Research projects can be planned for a period of 1 to 3 years and the approved projects will begin from January 2022.
